Bob’s Red Mill Scholarship Contest

At the beginning of the year, the Naturopathic Medical Student Association (NMSA) announced an Intercollegiate Cup sponsored by Bob’s Red Mill Natural Foods and National College of Naturopathic Medicine. The 1^st place winner will receive a $5,000 scholarship, 2^nd place is a $2,000 scholarship, and 3^rd place will receive a $1,000 scholarship. There are three rounds of competition for the grand prize of $5,000. This speech contest was open to all students among the seven naturopathic medical schools in North America. 

The first round of competition required students from each college to create a 3-minute YouTube video on the health benefits and nutritional value of a Bob’s Red Mill grain. One entry was then selected from each of the seven colleges to move to the second round. The judges will then choose three of the seven videos to move forward to the final round.

On March 17, five SCNM students submitted their 3-minute YouTube videos. These videos were judged by a panel of local Naturopathic Physicians for content, delivery, and language. The NMSA is proud to announce that Artemis Kampner, a quarter 3 student, will be representing SCNM in the second round.

The final round of the competition includes the three finalists being flown to Portland, Oregon to compete at the Northwest Naturopathic Physicians Convention where they will give a 10-minute speech on the topic:  Food as Medicine.  The winner will be announced at the Gala dinner on May 8, 2010.
