Medical Mission to Cambodia

Dr Axelrod will be performing acupuncture and homeopathic medicine with a MD's, PA's and pharmacists with Peacework in the next two weeks. Peacework is an organization that has been going to Cambodia for three consecutive years.

With 23 individuals on the mission in 2009 they saw more than 300 patients a day at the Pagoda (the home to their monastery) which quickly became the medical camp. With the help of equal or more the number of Khmer volunteers, they assisted the physicians in interpreting, organizing, cooking, and at times drove the Peacework volunteers.

The surrounding 17 villages consisted of thousands of people, all of whom embraced the missionaries with open arms as they have extremely limited access to health care and health education. When the missionaries found time, they visited one of the man-made wonders of the world the Angkor Wat, the Royal palace, and the museum of the somber legacy of the Khmer Rouge and their leader Pol Pot.

“Our volunteers understand this country better by visiting the tourist sites, but nothing compares to living and working among the people we serve.” Read More
