FACULTY BIOS
The passion, competence and commitment of our faculty are a source of pride to students, administration and alumni. Our faculty inspires students and graduates by example, to become outstanding physicians and to contribute in a wide variety of ways to their community.
These talented men and women understand their role as teachers and mentors whose advice, contacts, and guidance can transform your career. While the theories you learn at Southwest College will serve you well for a lifetime, it is their practical application and the integration of clinical skills that will set you apart from some of your peers.
The faculty at Southwest College is drawn from leading academicians and practitioners in various fields of medicine. SCNM faculty often bring the profession into the classroom through field studies, guest lectures, and projects. One of the overall goals of Southwest College is to maintain the lowest faculty-student ratio among the naturopathic schools with a ratio of 15 to 1, which illustrates our commitment to the importance of academics.
Our faculty represents a variety of professions including NDs, MDs, PhDs, DOs, DCs and Acupuncturists. Faculty members at Southwest College infuse their teaching with the excitement of discovery.

Kurtis Brown
Kurtis Brown is a Naturopathic medical student at SCNM. Prior to medical school, Brown spent five years in the United States Marine Corps as an Air Traffic Controller. After a combat tour in Iraq, Brown separated from the Marines and moved home to Colorado to complete his education. While there he attended Arapahoe Community College and received his AA degree and met his future wife.
The two transferred to the University of Colorado at Denver where he graduated with a BS in Biology. Brown had ambitions to become a doctor and found Naturopathic medicine best suited for him. During his time at SCNM, Brown has become involved with research and is part of the SCNM Research Department as a Research Assistant. Brown, along with the Research Department, has the vision to make SCNM a strong contributor within Naturopathic medical research.
