Arben Lasku, Ph.D

Admissions Advising
Dr. Arben Lasku graduated from the University of Tirana, Albania with his M.S. in clinical chemistry and an M.D. and Ph.D focusing on cancer studies. He practiced as a Medical Doctor and Biomedical Researcher at the Central Biochemical Lab at the University Hospital Center of Tirana until 1993. He began his teaching career, which has now spanned more than 20 years, in Albania, teaching biochemistry and supervising clinical rotations at his alma mater until 1997. During that time, Dr. Lasku received a fellowship from the International Atomic Energy Agency and took a two-year sabbatical to study Nuclear Medicine at the University of Genoa, in Genoa, Italy. In 1997, Dr. Lasku moved to the U.S. and taught Anatomy and Physiology at AIBT until joining the faculty as an Associate Professor at SCNM in 1999. He was the primary investigator for students’ research projects “Lactose Intolerance and Blood Types” and “Coronary Care Unit Patients Reponse to Remote Intercessory Prayer: A Randomized, Blind and Controlled Trial” in 2003. Dr. Lasku’s publications range from his 1994 work on plasma chromium in diabetics to his 2003 contribution to a paper on treatment of alcohol and drug addiction and he has been published in Albania, Spain, Italy, France, and Bulgaria as well as in the U.S. Dr. Lasku currently teaches courses in human pathology, laboratory diagnosis and immunology at SCNM.
