Dr. Robert Waters earned his Ph.D. in Molecular Genetics from Montana State University (1975) with an emphasis in Biochemistry and Mathematical Statistics. His thesis titled, A Modified Microbiological Assay of Amino Acids in Hordeum spp., with patent is published. His post-doctoral research and faculty appointment was at Kansas State University working on DNA Hybridization techniques, and worked with CYMMYT (Mexico) under the auspices of Nobel Prize Laureate, Prof. Norman E. Borlaug, in Mexico (1975-1977) (publications). Dr. Waters studied CIS WAN communications and became a specialist working with CAPLAMAR (Mexico City), CIA (Langley), British Petroleum (London) and Tyndall AFB (Florida) in the late 1970’s to early 80’s. In the late 80’s, he had extensive CSE training with IBM, DEC, Data General, CDC, etc, and developed a high volume billing system for emergency room use, and mathematical statistical modeling in predictive systems. Dr. Waters helped in the successful rewriting of the national EMT-Basic curriculum for DOT/NHTSA, a multi-million dollar grant with Samaritan Health Systems approved by all 50 states, and worked with the State of Arizona on the “Seatbelt Coalition”, and educational statistics issues.
Dr. Waters has strong research interests with a focus in genomics, diabetes, cancer, artificial intelligence mathematics, biological defense systems, and continues to publish in major journals. His latest publication has been with Katherine Raymer, M.D., NMD and Catherine Price, NMD(c)(2005) in Medical Hypothesis (London) titled, “Proposed Multigenic Composite Inheritance in Major Depression”. Dr. Waters is a partner and half owner of a successful farm and ranch operation in Montana for over thirty years. He is a proponent of organic farming, and has been asked by the American Consulate in Guatemala to consult in GMO issues. Dr. Waters is a member of the Mathematical Association of America, and the American College of Medical Genetics.
Dr. Waters is currently teaching Medical Biochemistry I & II (BIOC 605, BIOC 606); Medical Genetics (MGEN 607), Statistics, and Research courses at Southwest College of Naturopathic Medicine.
