Dr. Stephen Messer received his undergraduate degree from City College of the City University of New York, and a Masters degree in Science Education from the University of Pennsylvania. He became a Naturopathic physician in 1979 upon graduating from National College of Naturopathic Medicine in Portland, Ore. In 1988, Dr. Messer completed post-graduate training and board examinations to obtain board certification for the Diplomate Homeopathic Academy of Naturopathic Physicians (DHANP).
Dr. Messer attended more than 400 hours of post-graduate Eizayaga Homeopathic Seminars and became a professor of the Eizayaga method in 1988.
Dr. Messer is a founder and past president of the Homeopathic Academy of Naturopathic Physicians. He was on the Board of Directors for the National Center for Homeopathy from 1987-2008 and has served on the boards of several homeopathic and Naturopathic organizations, including the American Association of Naturopathic Physicians. He is a member of the Homeopathic Academy of Naturopathic Physicians, National Center for Homeopathy, the American Association of Naturopathic Physicians, and Arizona Naturopathic Medical Association.
Dr. Messer’s teaching career began in 1984 with the International Foundation for Homeopathy. In 1993, he became the Dean of the National Center for Homeopathy’s prestigious summer school. He instructed homeopathy at National College of Natural Medicine and in 2000, after 21 years of successful practice in Eugene, Ore., he relocated to Arizona and to Southwest College of Naturopathic Medicine as Professor and Dolisos Chair of Homeopathic Medicine.
Dr. Messer has presented numerous papers at regional and national homeopathic conferences and has published articles in Homeopathy Today as well as other journals. In 1992, he contributed to the book The Homeopathic Emergency Guide by Thomas Kruzel. He is currently involved, in collaboration with Dr. David Riley, MD, in overseeing various homeopathic research “provings” at SCNM.
Dr. Messer currently teaches Homeopathic Materia Medica Repertory & Case Taking II & III (HMEO 750, 770) and Patient Management and Case Taking (HMEO 810), as well as supervising three rotations at the SCNM Medical Center.
