BA Mexican American Studies, (2006)
University of Arizona
Tucson, Ariz.

Ana was born in Mexico City, Mexico and raised between Mexico City, California, and Arizona. She began working in the financial aid office in 2001 at the University of Arizona and enjoyed the connection she made with staff and students. After completing her BA, she moved back to Phoenix and discovered SCNM in 2006. At SCNM, Ana is fully involved with educating and providing financial solutions to help students accomplish their educational goals.

Ana truly enjoys the Orientation ceremony at the start of the Fall and Spring quarters. Orientation is a three-day welcome during which time staff and faculty have an opportunity to welcome new students and to learn a little about each one of them and vice-versa before the first day of class.

“The excitement and positive energy that students bring with them is amazing, and they are reminded that the staff and faculty are willing to help them in any way possible to see their educational goals be accomplished.”

One of the greatest opportunities that Ana has within the field is that she is able to travel and participate within organizations across the country to help expand on new ideas to improve the financial support that is offered to the graduate/professional students at SCNM. As she meets with students on a daily basis, she is able to comprehend their needs and become a voice for them to help improve their financial resources. The knowledge and experience that is gained from networking enables Ana to improve on student services and personal goals.

Aside from Ana’s professional activities, she enjoys reading about Mexican art and culture and dancing; but above all, Ana loves to travel with her daughter Itzel and her husband Hugo.
