FINANCIAL AID STEPS
Federal Stafford Loan
If you require financial assistance, please complete the below steps:
- Submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) online as soon as possible. The FAFSA for the new academic year is available January 1st. The FAFSA evaluates eligibility for Federal Stafford Loans, need-based and non-need based scholarships, and Federal Work Study. Applicants are encouraged to submit the FAFSA as soon as possible.
- First time borrowers must request a PIN from the Department of Education to complete the FAFSA and sign electronically
- Review the suggested lender list created by SCNM. Select a lender and sign your Master Promissory Note by clicking here: Federal Stafford Master Promissory Note
- Once you have selected a lender and signed a Master Promissory Note, you will be required to participate in an online borrower entrance counseling, known as the Federal Stafford Entrance Exam
Graduate Plus Loans
If the Federal Stafford Loan Lifetime Limit has been reached of $224,000, you may be eligible to obtain Graduate Plus Loans. You are required to complete the following steps to be considered for a Grad Plus Loan:
- Submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) online as soon as possible. The FAFSA for the new academic year is available January 1st. The FAFSA evaluates eligibility for Federal Stafford Loans, need-based and non-need based scholarships, and Federal Work Study. Applicants are encouraged to submit the FAFSA as soon as possible.
- Review the suggested lender list created by SCNM. Select a lender and sign your Master Promissory Note by clicking here: Graduate Plus Master Promissory Note
- Once you have selected a lender and signed a Master Promissory Note, you will be required to participate in an online borrower entrance counseling, known as the Graduate Plus Entrance Exam
