Headed To Haiti
April 25th a team of ten headed by SCNM Alum Dr. Brandie Gowey headed to Haiti to offer naturopathic and acupuncture medical services. The core team consisted of Brandie Gowey, NMD; Jon Kalman, NMD; Emily Davenport, NMD; Decker Weiss,NMD; and Firlande Volcy, NMD who are all alumni of SCNM The team will maintain a presence until May 9, 2010. Two acupuncturists are joining in the effort as well as a handyman/contractor from Prescott, AZ.
Dr. Gowey will report upon their return the success of the trip and stories of the Haitian people. Special thanks go out to the people and who made this trip possible, including but not limited to Ayush herbs and Vora Financial who gave the initial funds to purchase airline tickets, patients who donated, the Flagstaff Green Room who sponsored one of the work days, Firlande Volcy's family for their support in offering a place to stay, Seroyal/Ayush/Ortho Molecular Products/Wise Woman Herbals/Lhasa OMS for supplements and medical supplies, Sebastien Boyer for the hotel night during a layover, and the countless others who pulled together to make this trip possible. The team is also receiving a donation that will cover the purchasing of two large tents to be used to set up as a clinic.
