Southwest Naturopathic Medical Center Laboratory is accredited by COLA (Commission on Office Laboratory Accreditation) and registered with CLIA (Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments) as a Moderate Complexity Laboratory.  The SNMC Laboratory offers diagnostic laboratory testing which provides unique individualized health care. Our laboratory is one of the few in the nation providing testing for Dr. Peter D’Adamo’s Blood Type Diet. Students fulfill a 20 hour lab post within their clinical rotations to become familiar with the internal working of the laboratory within the Medical Center and to learn the value of having a lab within their own practice.  Upon completion of additional requirements within the lab, SCNM medical students have the opportunity to become certified phlebotomists.

Nellie Foster, MT is the SNMC’s first Lab Manager. As we begin to enhance our laboratory and IV services and expand to support the needs of our Center of Excellence programs, the Medical Center requires the highest level of professional and technical laboratory experience to lead the way.

Nellie is a medical technologist with over 20 years of lab management experience in environments that include Qwest labs, physician offices and many years in the hospital setting. She has created successful labs in physician offices from the ground up and has extensive knowledge in the areas of quality control, specialized laboratory testing, accreditation and women’s health/infertility. She has considerable experience as a Clinical Education Specialist developing and providing continuing education training to physicians, nursing staff, employees and patients. In this position, she also organized publicity events for physicians and center staff including scripting and producing videos, and developing marketing materials and sales strategies.

Nellie has experienced naturopathic medicine personally and is a strong supporter of the profession. We look forward to her role in leading us to an innovative lab that provides superior care, service and education and inspires imitation among other naturopathic offices and medical schools.
