SCNM's New ND Curriculum: Skills for Lifelong Learning

Overview
SCNM is gaining recognition for its curricular innovations which are aimed at adapting adult learning theory to medical education. Educational emphasis has shifted from the learning of facts to teaching students the skills they will need to be effective lifelong learners.
SCNM's current educational initiatives are aimed at improving the integration of the basic sciences and clinical sciences and integrating team based learning throughout the curriculum.
SCNM's new ND curriculum features:
- Team-based and case based instruction
- Student-centered learning
- Early clinical experiences in the first year
- Student choices in didactic (classroom) and clinical electives
