Project Leader, Disease Prevention & Treatment Protocols
Life Extension™ seeks a highly-qualified & motivated scientific & medical writer well-versed in nutritional/ dietary supplements to serve as Project Leader for the on-going protocol project to include an updated fifth edition of the landmark Disease Prevention and Treatment textbook, a 1200-page integrative therapy protocol textbook including the use of dietary supplements and targeted nutrients for the prevention and treatment of over 120 health-related conditions. The on-line & hardcover protocol book comprise conventional medical information including pharmacologic options combined with nutritional strategies/ dietary supplements to provide true integrated medical strategies in health & wellness.
The Project Leader will (in addition to being directly responsible for editing, revising, and updating the textbook) manage critical aspects of the production of the book, including:
· Interviewing and assigning protocols to freelance writers;
· Responsible for managing due dates and deliverables;
· Managing all aspects of the editing process;
· Working closely with other functional leaders in the organization to ensure consistency & scientific accuracy of the protocols;
· Updating the textbook protocols with new & novel information on the use of pharmacologic options as well as dietary supplements/ nutritional strategies for prevention and treatment.
· Interacting with clinical researchers, medical doctors, naturopathic physicians, and scientists to provide evidence-based, novel strategies using the most cutting-edge peer-reviewed, published studies for incorporation into existing Life Extension protocols.
The Project Leader must have the following minimum qualifications:
· Strong medical knowledge and science background in addition to expertise in alternative/ complementary medicine specific to nutrients/ dietary supplements – advanced degree preferred in health-related field;
· At least 5 years writing scientific/ medical copy for a lay audience, including complementary medical strategies involving nutrients/ dietary supplements medical protocols;
· Ability to accurately communicate complex scientific/ medical information from peer-reviewed literature in an accessible, reader-friendly format for a sophisticated lay audience;
· Fluent in such tools as PubMed, Lexis-Nexis, and Reference Manager;
· Excellent project management skills;
· Detail-oriented;
· Ability to work well in a fluid environment with shifting priorities.
