Physical Medicine
Naturopathic physical medicine at Southwest Naturopathic Medical Center incorporates a wide array of methods, techniques and modalities. While the focus may be the treatment and rehabilitation of the musculoskeletal system, it may also be employed in the treatment of both minor and major health problems in order to enhance and encourage self-healing functions.
Physical medicine is the use of manual treatments and methods, physio-therapeutic machines, and various injection techniques that help to relieve painful and inflammatory conditions. In turn, this improves the function of the physical body.
Manual methods include:
- Manual joint manipulation
- Instrument joint manipulation (Activator Technique)
- Trigger point treatment
- Muscle energy technique
- Cranial manipulation (biocranial, craniosacral)
Physiotherapy modalities include:
- Hot and cold hydrotherapy (effects circulation)
- Electrical muscle stimulation (treats muscle tension and pain)
- Ultra sound (treats strains/sprains with deep heating)
- Diathermy (deep heating)
- Cold laser (treats pain and increases flexibility)
Injection techniques include:
- Neural therapy
- Meso therapy
- Trigger point injections
- Prolotherapy (regenerative injection therapy- helps joint instability)
Physical pain and inflammatory conditions treated include:
