RESIDENCIES
The residency program at Southwest College of Naturopathic Medicine is a one year post graduate, formal education program that offers the participant the opportunity to gain a wide range of clinical experiences in the area of family practice medicine. SCNM offers a number of formal post-graduate medical education programs that train future leaders of the naturopathic profession and offer the participant an opportunity to gain a wide range of clinical experiences.
All of SCNM’s on-site programs in PGME are approved by the Council on Naturopathic Medical Education (CNME). Additionally, SCNM is recognized by the CNME as an approved sponsor of distance-site programs in PGME. For any program located in Arizona, Arizona law requires that resident candidates must be licensed in the state of Arizona before becoming a resident. Upon completion of any of SCNM’s PGME programs, resident graduates will receive a certificate of completion from SCNM and are eligible for a certificate of completion from the CNME.
The resident will rotate through a variety of areas, working with the Medical Center's experienced staff of Naturopathic physicians, as well as medical specialists in areas such as Pediatrics, Urology, Dermatology, Orthopedics, Geriatric medicine, and Cardiology.
In addition, each resident physician will begin to develop their own medical skills under the mentorship of Southwest Naturopathic Medical Center's medical staff. When the doctor has completed the program, he/she has the opportunity to apply for second year residency in selective areas. These include Environmental Medicine, Pediatrics and Homeopathy.
