SCNM Becomes an iTunes U Campus
June 05, 2006
Southwest College of Naturopathic Medicine, the leader in innovation in Naturopathic Medical Education, will be the first Naturopathic Medical School to offer students digital course content via Apple’s iTunes U.
Five years ago the College made a commitment to put all course materials online, to give students richer resources – slides, illustrations and course handouts, and cut down on environmentally damaging use of copier toner and millions of pages of paper. We are now ready to take the next step, creating audio (and soon, video) files of lectures, presentations and Board reviews for students to access on campus, at home or on the go.
In an agreement with Apple Computer, Southwest College students will be able to download lectures, Grand Rounds and other presentations from a specially designed version of iTunes hosted on Apple servers.
Becoming an iTunes U campus will create unique learning opportunities for SCNM students. Students will be able to listen to lectures on their computers on campus or at home, they can burn them onto CD’s and listen in the car. Of course the most exciting opportunity will be to download right from iTunes U to an iPod and listen to a lecture wherever they want – going for a walk, at the gym or at their computer synched to the slide presentation.
It is our goal to make the SCNM iTunes U available to alumni and provide valuable updates in Nutrition, Women’s Healthcare, Environmental Medicine and Diabetes. Stay tuned as we continue to lead the profession in learning innovations.
