Dr. Nenninger filming Stacey Kupperman, 14th quarter student and SCNM New York State NPAC Representative.

Documentary to Support Naturopathic Licensure

July 3, 2006  |  By Tamara Katayama Torres

Steve Nenninger, ND, has tirelessly supported naturopathic medicine in New York and is determined to see naturopathic licensure pass. To this end, Dr. Nenninger is filming a documentary to demonstrate to legislators tentatively titled “Access Denied: Naturopathic Medicine in New York.” Nenninger has begun filming students and physicians at Southwest College of Naturopathic Medicine and Southwest Naturopathic Medical Center to capture the essence of naturopathic medicine and the heartfelt desire shared by many students to return to their home state of New York to practice.

Dr. Nenninger stated, “This (legislative) session it was clear that we needed to put the ‘human face’ on all of our reasons for licensure in New York State. Our documentary showing the courage and integrity of the students that choose naturopathic medicine, the professionalism and compassion of the naturopathic physicians, and most of all, the very human face of suffering patients cured by naturopathic medicine will make licensure a reality next year.”  The documentary will be completed by this coming September just in time for the next legislative session.  Nenninger plans to distribute over 10,000 copies on DVD and online format to legislators, supporters and influential contacts.
