New Dean of Students
Stephanie Mehrtens
Southwest College of Naturopathic Medicine is pleased to announce the hiring of Stephanie Mehrtens as Dean of Students. Stephanie most recently served as the Director of Student Services at DeVry University carrying the same roles and responsibilities.
Stephanie has had a wide variety of experience in both corporate and academic environments. She moved on to academia as a career counselor and in 1999 worked at Arizona State University. With her leadership experience at ASU, she moved on to a more challenging position as the Director of Student Services at DeVry University. Her focus and leadership was on initiatives related to retention and student life, including one-on-one counseling of students in highly complex and stressful situations, student organizations, sports and activities geared toward student interests, as well as coordinating a student ambassador program.
Stephanie not only acts as the student voice on the SCNM campus maintaining an open-door policy for all students, but she holds partnerships with faculty and staff with high regard in order to maintain the balance of policy/procedures and recognition of individual student situations.
Stephanie holds a Master of Education degree with a counseling major from Northern Illinois University and a bachelor's degree in Psychology from Loyola University of Chicago.
