Welcome SCNM Students!
As the Fall 2006 quarter officially commenced on August 21st, SCNM students went through the biannual beginnings and transitions of welcoming a new first quarter class into the SCNM family and sending the ninth quarter class into clinical training at the medical center.
The four year journey began for the incoming class of 63 students when they began their 11 week quarter with a week of intensives. The students completed two courses within their first week, The Philosophy and History of Naturopathic Medicine taught by Dr. James Sensenig and Healthy Communication taught by Dr. Rick Kirschner. The students’ official welcome commenced on Friday when Dean of Students, Mike Robinson, presented each new student with his/her own stethoscope which held the SCNM seal in the diaphragm.
Ninth quarter students also received a right of passage when they were formally introduced into clinical rotations with acceptance of their white coats on the evening of August 20th. Approximately 40 students participated in the ceremony, with Dean Robinson serving as Master of Ceremonies. Dr. Stephen Messer was the keynote speaker and SCNM president, Dr. Paul Mittman delivered each student with his/her white coat.
Welcome back students and to the first quarter students...welcome to the SCNM family! Best of luck in the 2006-2007 school year and may it be a good quarter for all, full of learning and excitement.
