Love Blossoms at SCNM

It was just supposed to be a visit with mom and friends, a relaxing break between Navy boot camp and his first assignment, but when Clinical Records Coordinator Patti Castille’s son Anthony came home on leave September 6, little did he know he’d meet the love of his life!

Andrea Chavez, looking lovely as always behind the Business Office counter, caused Anthony to do a double-take when he came to SCNM to meet his mom’s co-workers—and he hasn’t looked away since! Spending as much time as they could together during that two-week span, Andrea and Anthony’s relationship quickly developed from friendship to love. Just a short time later, they became engaged. 

Legally married as of November 2nd (to allow for governmental foot dragging), Andrea and Anthony’s dream wedding will take place on Friday, Dec. 21, at the Castle at Ashley Manor.

Blanca has many years of experience as an executive administrative assistant. She will serve as the primary point of contact for all the deans, Stephanie Mehrtens, Dean of Students, Dr. Joni Olehausen, and the Dean of Biomedical Sciences.

Mercedes Davila
Academic Coordinator 

Welcome back Mercedes! Most of you remember Mercedes from the Registrar’s office.  Mercedes served as the Office Coordinator in the Registrar’s Office and subsequently as the Assistant Registrar. She will now be working as the Academic Coordinator.

Todd Olehausen
Director of Facilities

Todd brings a wealth of experience to the college.  Prior to joining SCNM Todd served as the Campus Director of an educational institute with his responsibilities including maintenance, grounds, and general facilities management. Todd also has served his country in the military, attaining the rank of Major in the US Army.   During his career he has contributed to his organizations by engineering major campus relocations, major facilities repairs and renovations, and consistent attention to serving the immediate needs of staff, faculty, students and customers.

Alethea Bessire  
Counseling Intern

Alethea Bessire is our new practicum counseling student working with Dr. Christy Love over in the Annex. She will be here until approximately March 2008 to help provide one-on-one counseling services for our students.  She currently attends Argosy University and is seeking a Master’s Degree in Forensic Psychology. She has already obtained a Master’s Degree in August 2006 in Professional Counseling from Argosy. Alethea works full time as a counselor with Superstition Mountain Mental Health Center in Apache Junction and has worked in mental health since 2001.  Prior to that, she worked with at-risk youth in an after school program.
