For many graduating students, graduation marks the end of an era consisting of classes, hours of studying, examinations, clinical rotations, and part-time jobs. The prospect of beginning life as a physician after medical school is very exciting. A question that is most commonly asked is, “What do alumni do after graduation?” This page is provided to help answer some questions about career opportunities.
What Are SCNM Alumni Doing?
Type of employment after graduation:
- 90% of alumni work in a clinical practice setting
- 19% writer or lecturer
- 13% contractor or consultant
- 8% researcher

Income
An established N.D. in a large, busy practice makes an average estimated net income of $80,000 to $90,000 per year – and may make upwards of $200,000.
A beginning N.D. would generally earn less than these averages for the first years of practice. Early residency positions reflect incomes from $20,000 to $30,000 per year.

Alumni Satisfaction
