Welcome from the Vice-President of Academic and Clinical Affairs

Welcome to Southwest College of Naturopathic Medicine. We are a community of learners dedicated to supporting students as they go through the transformative process of becoming physicians.
Medicine is a rapidly growing and changing body of knowledge. At SCNM, academic rigor ensures students’ medical knowledge. Clinical application strengthens students’ critical thinking and their competence in clinical skills and patient interactions. Experiences in classes, labs, the Medical Center and the nine community clinics offer students a variety of settings to explore themselves and to learn who they are as physicians.
Because of the changing landscape of medicine and medical education, SCNM is committed to remaining flexible and engages in constant evaluation to ensure that the curriculum provides the best in student-centered learning and patient-centered care.
SCNM is actively engaged in curriculum revision to provide students an integrated curriculum that offers access to patient care early in the program. The new curriculum, to be implemented in Fall 2010, utilizes a new academic calendar to offer students more time with subject matter and balances the art, science and philosophy of naturopathic medicine. SCNM’s experienced Faculty utilize a variety of teaching methods to engage students as they gain competency in the knowledge, attitudes and skills necessary to become the physicians of tomorrow.
Join us. Serve the world around you and discover the physician within you. We look forward to getting to know you along the way.
Sincerely,
Christine Girard, ND Executive Vice-President of Academic and Clinical Affairs
