Yong Deng, M.D. (China), L.Ac

Faculty, Department of Oriental Medicine/Acupuncture

Dr. Yong Deng is a graduate, former faculty, and physician of Chengdu University of Traditional Chinese P.R. China. He practiced and taught acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine at this school and its teaching hospital for over 13 years.  In 1996, Dr. Deng was invited to SCNM as a Gero-Vita endowed Chair in Traditional Chinese Medicine to help develop an acupuncture program.

Dr. Deng is an internationally well-known lecturer and practitioner of TCM. He has over 26 years experience in teaching and practicing acupuncture and Chinese Medicine. His practice involves the treatment of a wide range of diseases and conditions including pain syndromes, infertility, allergies, depression, lack of energy, cancer, stroke, gynecological disorders, and GI problems.

Dr. Deng currently serves as the Chair and Professor within the Department of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine at SCNM. He is also invloved in some teaching responsibilities at other acupuncture schools with the Phoenix Metro area. In addition to overseeing third and fourth year medical students in clinical training, Dr. Deng has a private practice at the Southwest Naturopathic Medical Center in Scottsdale and at his office in Chandler.

Dr. Deng is an internationally recognized speaker and scholar in the fields of acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine. He continues to make presentations at national and international conferences and has published over 30 papers and several books including the Encyclopedia of Chinese and U.S. Patent Herbal Medicines. Dr. Deng has held many esteemed positions in China and the United States. He is the Director of the International Association of Integrated Medicine (IAIM), a member of the State of Arizona Acupuncture Board of Examiner, and a member of the Advisory Board at Southwest Institute of Healing Arts (SWIHA).

As a faculty of acupuncture and Oriental Medicine, Dr. Deng teaches the following courses at SCNM: Traditional Chinese Medicine Diagnosis (OMND 610), Traditional Chinese Medicine Pathology (OMND 725), Acupuncture Techniques (OMND 735), Oriental Medicine Case Analysis and Management I (OMND 815), Oriental Medicine Case Analysis and Management II (OMND 865), and Chinese Prepared Medicine (OMND 890).
