Dr. Jessica Mitchell discovered a passion for pediatric medicine following her first year residency and in 2007 she became the first Naturopathic Pediatric Resident. During her residencies, she participated in two double blind placebo controlled studies on biomedical treatments of autism. Throughout her career, Dr. Mitchell has collaborated with researchers from ASU on biomedical treatment of autism. She is a Founding Member of both the Pediatric Association of Naturopathic Physicians as well as the American Board of Naturopathic Physicians, which established the first specialty examination in pediatric naturopathic medicine.
Dr. Mitchell has served in a variety of administrative roles including Residency Director and Associate Dean of Clinical Education. She also oversees student medical rotations and maintains a private practice at Southwest Naturopathic Medical Center.
Outside of SCNM, Dr. Mitchell is actively involved in community outreach as a member of Valley Leadership and the Junior League of Phoenix.
