Professor of Basic Medical Sciences
About: Dr. Soneira’s main teaching areas are Gross Anatomy and Neuroscience. He has been teaching these subjects for 23 years at various institutions in Canada, the Caribbean and the United States. Dr. Soneira has taught medical, dental, chiropractic, naturopathic and allied health students and has received various teaching awards along his career.
Education: Medical Doctor degree from the Higher Institute of Medical Sciences of Havana (1986), Specialist in Human Anatomy degree from the Higher Institute of Medical Sciences of Havana (1989), Master of Science in Medicine (Neuroscience) degree from Memorial University of Newfoundland (1995).
Classes Taught: Anatomy, Histology and Embryology I, II and II. He also assists with the Capstone courses and the Integrated Case Studies Application course.
Associations: Member of the American Association of Clinical Anatomists since 1994.
Research/Publications: Dr. Soneira has performed research on schizophrenia as well as the brain effects of severe cardiovascular diseases. More recently he has been interested in the areas of anatomical variations and educational research
